I just found amongst my stash of bits and pieces a big bag of Dead Sea Salts...

Now what on earth do I do with these?

Can i use them for bath salts?

Any ideas would be great thanks

Hey,

They can be used in Bath Salts, Bath Bombs, Bath Milks etc. It's definitely a dry ingredient until immediate use (I learnt that the hard way - M&P and Dead Sea Salts do not mix!)

I have just bought 1kg of Pure Rock Salt to make bath salts ... do i just mix in FO and colour then leave out to dry? The recipe I have says 16oz salt, 15 - 30 drops of Essential Oil. Can I use FO instead?
Thanks!
:?
Will teach me to buy before I've worked out what I'm doing!!!!

I haven't had good luck with sea salt. Over time it becomes chunky and clumps.
You can use either fragrances or essential ois.

purple molly (not that im an expert in this ive never made bath salts!) but when i was looking at my suppliers tutorial page they said to add something called Natrasorb Bath which helps to have the fragrance in the salts.

ive put some in my shopping trolley and some epson salts to to purchase next time i buy something so i can have a play (most tutorials i have been looking at say to use some sea salts and some epsom salts)

Thanks GoddessBec - as I've only JUST had an order shipped to me from my supplier it looks like I'll have to wait a while before I play with the salt lol.

I use a mix of Dead Sea Salts, Epsom Salts and coarse sea salts in my bath salts. I put them in a bowl and add colour and FO and mix well. You can then leave them to dry on waxed paper and then bag/tub up. Leaving them a couple of days in their packaging before sending out can help the salts to 'soak in' the FO before the customer gets to smell them.

Anyway hope this helps a little :)

I use around half the mixture Dead Sea Salts, then a quarter of Epsom and a quater Coarse Sea Salts. I don't put any baking soda in - but another twist on bath salts is to add Sodium Bicarbonate and Citric Acid to make them 'fizzing'. I've yet to make them but they are on my list to do. I'm waiting until a few bath bombs go wrong, bash them up and add some salts - bish bash bosh - fizzing bath salts ;)

I make mine with a mixutre of 5% dendritc salt and the other 95% split evenly between coarse and fine grade Dead Sea Salts. I mix the color and FO into the dendritic salt before I add the sea salts. It seems to lock the fragrance in somehow. I don't usually leave them out to dry. Just put them in their tubes and put a lid on them. I've never had get clumpy on me.

I just made my first batch and I used 2 cups rock salt (because it wasn't sea salt after all - I should read labels before posting!), 1 cup Epsom Salts, 15 drops FO & 2 drops colour. I didn't use Natrasorb (because I didn't have any!!). It smells delicious and I put it in the tubs without drying and it doesn't seem to be clumping. I'm hoping the percentages were right!

Looks good! Just don't sit on the bigger pieces that are on the bottom of the tub. Don't ask me how I know.

I can testify about the coarse salts!!! be afraid...be very afraid! I add my color only to the coarse salt so it looks like little jewels in the mix and I add about 5% corn starch to help with clumping. Baking soda makes the water even softer...verry nice with salts! IMHO
