I know this question might sound extremely naive and silly, but I have a question. does the soap really have to take 6 months to cure? how soon can the soap be used after it has been poured? how long does it take to dry? I am seriously thinking about taking the cp five. I have to admit, although I am a courageous person, I am somewhat frightened of hurting myself!!

I cure my soaps for 4-6 weeks. Pure castille is best cured for about 6 months. What recipe are you thinking of trying?

Ok; take a look here and see if any of the recipes appeal to you. Then come back and tell me which oils or butters you have.

i made my first batch of soap this week and my recipe worked out really well-

Olive Oil- 20oz
Coconut Oil- 12.5oz
Palm Oil- 7.5oz
Corn Oil- 5.0oz (not something i normally use, but im tryin to burn through it)
Jojoba Oil- 2.5oz
Castor- 2.5oz

Lye- 6.8oz
Water- 16.5oz

i mixed at a low temp 95-100 degrees, and i handmixed it all to trace, where i added a little FO. the batch stayed cool the whole time and poured very easy. took it out after 24 hours and cut, seems like a winner to me. it was a bit oily at the beginning but after sitting overnight it soaked back in. only 4ish more weeks and ill be able to use it! so much for instant gratuity!
