Hi there - I've bought 2 molds from the local Thrift Store and when I got them home was shattered to see one of them had a tear in the base!!!! I'm posting both pics because I just loved them - they're silicon and the green one is the one with the tear (centre bottom of pic). It's a brownie pan size. Does anyone have any idea how to repair it so it's useable? Could I just pour a little clear soap on it for a temp repair to use? Help!!!!!

File comment: I saw it on the shelf and pictured white daisies with yellow centres and then the rest of it filled with pink and lavender layers ..... then I got home and was sad.

I would try a small amount of silicone caulk and see if that would close up the tear.

Also try polymer clay on it.. it will air dry some, but you can take it off and put it in a plastic bag till you need it again.. I have used polymer clay as a mold for making small rounds or what ever.

To PurpleMolly: Try using waterproof fabric glue. I think that does not have dangerous chemicals. I think if you use the silicone caulk it has dangerous chemicals in it. I hope this helps

Thank you everyone for you advice! As the mold was only $5 and the silicon caulk is considerably more to buy than that I think I'll try the craft glue option because I already have that!
Will let you know how I go!!

Just curious, is it safe to put polymer clay near the soap? Mum and I have been working with polymer clay recently, but I keep all the cutters etc used with the clay totally separate to my soap making supplies as I'm worried about the petro chemicals it contains.

Made a soap :)
Passionfruit Papaya FO. I let the soap set a bit before pouring to get a clumpy layered look. Spritzed well between pours and didn't refrigerate - one of the bonuses of living in Melbourne!
Was happy-ish with the end result - a few too many air bubbles for mine (which you can't see but I know are there!!!)
My daughter is very kindly taking back the other mould to swap it for a non-torn one!!!!

I was wondering why you did not exchange it... thought maybe it was the only one available or something? I really like the flower one and as a thrift store groopie I love a bargain. Really like the soaps and am looking forward to seeing the one with the flowers.
