Hey all. Just as the topic says, are there any Aussie soapers on the forums interested in doing our own swap? The US soapers are holding one at the moment, but postage would be very steep for that. Goddessbec is interested, as am I. Anyone else? I'm happy to host it if people are ok with that or if there's someone who's been around longer than me that would rather host it, I'd be happy with that too. I don't have any preference for whether it be themed or not themed, just MP or CP/HP too. Even other Bath and Body products if that's what people want. We can decide if we get enough interest :)

Spooky!! Yesterday I was wishing there was an Aussie soap swap, and today I find you guys. I'm just a "family & friends" soaper at the moment, and don't have labels or anything for my soaps. I would love to join in, but I'm wondering if my soaps would be a fair swap for some of the creations out there.

:D yay sounds great :)

Suzie - I'm sure your soaps will be great, it ll be a great learning experience for everyone, to have a chance to test out everyone's soaps. I don't have any packaging or anything either yet.

I do hope there are more aussie's on here that want to participate as well.

i really dont think we need to worry about how 'good' we are, its just for a bit of fun :)

im not worried if you dont have packaging and labels etc for your soap. also, apparently if you are giving away your soap, or giving away samples, (ie. not getting money for it) you dont have the worry about listing ingredients? but i think we should list the ingredients anyway, its good practice anyway i think.

im soooo excited, i have never recieved soap of anyone else before hehe

me too im excited to finally do one :D

Yeah i think we should list ingredients, should also state if it's a normal soap, or if its not reccomended for sensitive skin.

so with a soap swap, does the participant make a survey to go with their soap, or does the host do a generic template of a survey to get feedback?

Awesome, that makes 4 of us! I'll give it another couple of days to see if anyone else comes out of the woodwork though.

I see no trouble with newbies considering I've only been doing it for about 5 months myself :)

Labels are still on my "to do" list as well. I think if we just make something generic with the ingredients listed to send with our soaps, that will be good. Safer that way although we are probably all buying the base from exactly the same place :P

OK so what do we want to do? I was thinking, seeing as there's so few of us if people want to, we could even make more than one soap. At the moment we all need to make 3 soaps. If we made 2 different types, that would be making 6 soaps to send. Then we could do one free choice and come up with a theme for the other.

Or if that's way to much work then we could just do one :P

So 1 or 2 types each?
If one will it be themed of free choice?
If two what will be the theme for one of them?

As for a survey I'm not really sure what is usually done in these swaps.

Oh and I'll research postage sometime in the near future.

Oh and I still don't mind hosting. Thanks for the offer of help :)

since there is so few of us, i reckon we make 2 soaps, 1 themed (which would be fun, ive never had to make soap to a theme before 8) ) and 1 of your own choice?

i dont know about surveys but i dont mind answering questions if you want some feedback

oh as for the theme we should throw around some suggestions... i have to think of some first though

Was surfing some websites after googling soap swap, and found some idea's for themes - one was "all natural" if it's melt and pour, that may include using organic soap base? and one was called "good enough to eat" - foodstuff

cant wait to see more suggestions
:D

I'm happy with 6. There are a lot of questions to settle first, aren't there? Are we doing CP as well as M&P? I don't have a problem with a survey, although it's a bit daunting to have your soaps "judged", it will be good to get the feedback. As for themes, maybe a season? Can't think of anything else at the moment. I'm off for 4 days holiday with my parents down in Denmark for Mother's Day, so I'll be offline until Wednesday. Looking forward to lots more info by then. 8)

survey would be purely for the soapmakers feedback, that's why its probably best we make our own to cater to our own needs. (if that's what anyone wants to do). I know I like to get a little feedback and a few questions answered when I give someone a soap.
