My FAIL!

Scented White Butterfly. The main part is supposed to be blue, looking like a butterfly in the sky. It looked great at first, then turned in to this....

It's still pretty Robin. Did the blue just fade?

it just changed into this weird pinky purple color. I have a much better design that is black with a white butterfly. :)

I used Super Blue Mica from BB. No clue what might have happened to it.

It was a darling idea, I hope you give it another try. Is it M and P? I've never see color fade in M and P. I have seen FO's and Eo's change the opaque quality of a color but not the color itself! Live and learn.

Yes, please let me know if you can get it to do the same thing.

darn, I should have taken a picture of mine to show, but I used my soap up. I used super blue mica too, and I used olive oil base and Tropical Vacation fragrance. Most of the coloring disappeared on mine too-you could see light shimmer, but the blue color was gone.

So here is my test.
The first photo shows clear M&P soap made with the Super Blue mica (and Lavender Mica) just 2 hours old - fresh out of the molds. In the top examples I just put 1 mini scoop (.15cc) in about 2 ounces of clear bulk melt & pour base. It was semi translucent. Then on the lower soaps I put 3 scoops in about 2 ounces of soap - making them really bright and opaque. I didn't use any fragrance. With the Super Blue I didn't see any fading over the 4 days. (But the Lavender went a little pink)

So I wonder if your fragrance might be reacting with the color in some way? Or are they in a sunny or brightly lit room? Maybe adding a little UV inhibitor will help in that case. I'm going to put them in our sunniest windowsill now and see what happens. I love experimenting!

This reminds me of the time I used Super blue mica to color my M&P. I did see fading but not totally disappearing, it just lost it's vibrancy, turned into more dull grayish color.

PEscapes......I know many FO's do turn diff colors in M&P bases. I wonder if this is what happened? Did you use an FO that has vanilla in it? Did you use a stabilizer too? Bubblegum FO from BB turned my nice pink color, orange and it turned my light blue color to an orange as well. I used the vanilla stabilizer as well. Both color and base is BB..
Now i have orange bubblegum soap pops lol. When my order from BB was delivered the stabilizer was frozen solid the taped top was almost off the bottle.. and now it has a lot of cloudy stuff on the bottom and clear on top.. i shake it before use.. maybe that is what is wrong and my color changed?

I really wish I had taken a picture of it but I totally messed up a bar of M&P soap by adding Dead Sea Salts! They totally disintegrated in the soap and went all these horrible hollow white patches in my soap. It looked so gross I was heaving and had to get my hubby to clear it all away. Even now it turns my tummy a little lol! Ah well you live an learn! Really wish I had taken a picture now...or maybe not :?

I think personally, the Dead Sea Salt just doesn't work in M&P when melted. It would have to be super cool I think for it to work but you're getting close to it solidifying then, but maybe that's not a bad thing - but every attempt by me so far has failed and the outcome as above.

Nah to Noni I recommended standard coarse sea salt, that seems to cope better with warm/hot M&P and withstands the heat and remains in tact.
