Hello everyone,

I was just wondering if anyone out there has had any success securing unmounted stamps in molds without using Rubber Cement?

I had some amazing stamps custom made by an Etsy seller before I realised it's pretty much impossible to buy Rubber Cement in Australia and I son't have enough basic molds yet to permanently glue the stamps into the mold...

Which etsy shop was that in? I'd be interested in some custom stamps also.

Wouldn't the seller have a better idea than we would? My thought would be Elmers Wood glue which is very good, however it isn't permanent and I wouldn't know if it would affect the stamp. Is the stamp rubber or some other material. Glue could melt it.

I'd call the and email the shop! Good luck and I hope you let us know about this and how it works out!

If you have a auto parts supplier around check to see if they have a product called universal tire cement or vulcanizing cement. They are used in the tire repair process and will make rubber stick to just about anything. Be warned the vulcanizing cement is volatile and cann't usually be shipped without extra expense and you should work in a well ventilated area as the smell is extremely strong. Best method is to coat the object you want to apply the rubber and the rubber to with a thin coat let it cure about five minutes and press together keeping firm presure until they cement dries. Do not over use the product as the heat it produces can damage lightly made rubber products.
Another option is a permatex product made to bond rubber and plastic gaskets to car parts.
If all else fails automotive weatherstrip and emblem adhesive should also do the trick most of the products are in the 4-12 dollar range in the US and there should be something comparable where you are since cars need the same type of work done on them no matter where they are. Hope that helps it should give you another place to look anyway.

Mella it was from http://www.etsy.com/shop/skullandcrossbuns

The seller makes these for regular stamping & scrapbooking so it's not something she would know about. In Australia we don't have the Elmers brand so I was wanting to know if other Aussies had tried another brand :)

Can you use the rubber stamp like a soap stamp and just hit each piece with the one stamp?

Hi chemicalx - have you tried Bunnings? You'd just need to look for rubber adhesive. Craft stores should also carry something similar. My husband works at Burson Automotive and he says they sell tyre cement for fixing patches. The other place that would be worth a look is Clark Rubber! Maybe the Pool Repair Adhesive at the bottom of this page might work?

Good luck!

I'm not sure, but I think Selley's KwikGrip may be rubber. I don't have one at the moment, or I'd check the label for you. Like PurpleMolly says, Bunnings for sure. They're usually very helpful there, someone should be able to point you in the right direction.
