Is there other way to get true black in CP besides using activated charcoal?

Charcoal works the best for me. I tried black oxide and it bleeds and makes a mess.

I see, I was going to black oxide next, but now maybe not. Charcoal has this distinctive smell to it, sometimes it doesn't work well with the FO I want to use. And black lab color only gets as dark as dark grey...

I had used wood charcoal powder, 1 TBSP ppo. It was very black, but I find a slight scratchiness to the bars. Did I overdo it, or does it have slight exfoliating qualities? It does not cause black foam which the black oxide does, but I was surprised at the texture.

Thanks, Soapbuddy. I was wondering if I was using something different than activated charcoal. I'll try that next time.

If you look at the previous thread on hockey pucks, the vanilla really made the difference from gray to black. I do three soaps now with charcoal and the only one that is a true black was the pucks.
