Teach Soap

Ok, so I've been sent on a mission to find a recipe for my grandson's booty rashes. Would anyone have suggestions for ingredients or an actual recipe they would care to share? I'm thinking something in a balm, paste or lotion?

I would try some type of a balm with zinc oxide in it.

I was thinking the zinc oxide, calendula infused olive oil, lavender eo, beeswax pellets, jojoba oil, and maybe shea. But wasnt sure on percentages or other ingredients? Maybe some vitamin E and comfrey? Still working it out. I want the balm to be organic if possible. I'll probably start testing in the am, after I've had some sleep.

Ok, I have 1 more question...for now (lol). Would I need a preservative? It won't have any water and very slim chance of it being introduced. But, with the nature of the primary use of this balm, I'm thinking hands might not always be properly disinfected before using this product. I can just imagine a frazzled sleepy mommy, a screaming wiggling baby, and the mommy just scooping it out and hurrying to get it done so baby will feel better and not thinking to germex her hands 1st... I'm sure preservative is not necassary, but would it be beneficial in this case?

That's a good question. I've made a balm for my grandson, but I didn't use a preservative. It might not be a bad idea to add it. Which one I don't know off the top of my head, since it's going in a sensitive area. It would have to be oil soluble as some preservatives are water soluble only.

yes thats the one. which preservative would you recommend that would be paraben-free and safe for use on baby's skin?
