Teach Soap

I am curious as to how many of you belong to soap guilds, clubs and/or other organizations? Browsing on-line, I found many. A couple that I checked out had a fee of around $100 per year. Before I considered anything like that, I would like to know if there is value to these organizations, and just what is the value? My interest is in advertising my soaps for the purpose of increasing sales. Do these help? I got the impression that their goal was to advertise the idea of home made soap, which is all well and good, but not sure it's worth $100 a year per member (BTW, they had very few members at that price).

I don't do any of them anymore. I did one a couple of years ago and haven't noticed any benefits. I'd rather spend that money on supplies or advertising my business.

Sorry to bring up an old post. Being a new soapmaker I joined HSMG mainly for the insurance. I'm guessing you've found it more affordable elsewhere. Any tips? Maybe I need to do more research before renewing. Thanks!

For a new soaper making under 5T per year, try RLI insurance. You used to be able to have a higher income, but they lowered it to 5T now, which is too bad. They are quite reasonable.
