Teach Soap

I added a small amount of coconut oil to my melt and pour (I'm trying to get a white soap base without titanium dioxide). Upon removing my soap from the mold, I noticed that the coconut oil had risen to the top. I'm left with a transparent layer and a white layer. Am I dong something wrong? Does extra coconut oil added to a MP base always separate?

On a similar note: I tried China Clay first but it just clumped up and would not dissolve in the base. I added water to it - which worked nicely - but that mix made my soap way too soft.

I love a good challenge but I'm getting very frustrated......"help."

Coconut oil will not give you a white base. You do need titanium dioxide for that dissolved with a little bit of glycerin first. The coconut oil will also inhibit bubbles.

Thanks for responding, Soapbuddy! I've decided to give in and use the titanium dioxide. If it's in toothpaste and vitamins it can't be that bad, right? About the coconut oil - if it inhibits bubbles what would you recommend using to get bubbles in a bath bomb?
