I throw everything in a sink with hot water and Dawn dish detergent and start scrubbing. I wouldn't let my wife do it without gloves but it doesn't seem to bother me barehanded. Most liquid dish detergent is pretty good at removing oils/grease and Dawn seems to do a good job.

Put it all in a cupboard or box after wiping it all down with old toweling. Next day put all the mess into the sink and with hot water wash it all down. Second day or after throw the old towels into a batch of other towels to wash them all up and smell nice to boot! In 24 hours it’s all soap!!

Thank you all. Now that I've read all the suggestions and will put it all out of harms way overnight, I'm set to do it all by hand! :)

I let everything sit for a few days and saponify. Then I have soap to clean everything with! Of course we have a 2nd kitchen in the basement so I can just leave it all sitting out. Before we had the basement kitchen, I would just sit everything on the dining room table (we usually eat in the kitchen). I tried washing everything right after I finished but usually ended up making a big mess...raw soap everywhere (kind of like something sticky seems to spread all over the kitchen). I put all my utensils in my soap pot and just leave it.

When I soap I am usually making multiple batches the same day. In fact I just sat down after making 3 batches of soap which when cut will make about 72 bars of soap. I simply wash everything with warm water and ( dawn ) dish washing liquid. Of course I am careful since the soap is still "hot" but leaving things to turn to soap just isn't practical in my situation it would slow down production far to much for my tastes.
Basically my outlook on it is that you treat the chemicals with the respect they deserve but don't worry overmuch about dealing with the raw soap. I think over time you develop a comfort level with what you are doing and while you should always take the proper precautions you don't have to be afraid of the chemicals you are working with.

We usually do a lot of batches in a day so between batches we use a little baking soda and dish detergent with hot water. At the end of the day we scrape out whatever is left do a hot water rinse, gather all eight trillion measuring cups that are around and put them all in the dishwasher on the pots/and pans setting under hi-temp wash with the sanitation cycle on so everything is sanitized and scent free for the next round. Haven't had a problem yet :)

I usually stick all my utensils and everything in my big soap pot and fill with hot water and liquid soap and I have gloves on when I do this. I usually have to do a couple washes though as it just gets greasy. I like to clean up right away either to make another batch or just get it out of my hair for the day. Do any of you use a heavy duty cleanser?

I've used liquid laundry detergent before. Doesn't take much and cleans better than dish detergent, IMO. I buy it when it's on special, buy one, get one free. I like to clean as soon as I'm finished soaping. I scrape everything out/down first with a spatula, then wipe it out, off. For me it's easier than waiting until the soap has set up to clean and I don't like leaving the mess for later. I still have my gloves on when I clean, too.

I also wash everything in hot water with dishwashing soap right after I am done. I have a small house also and soap in the kitchen. I don't have room to leave it and plus I am afraid that my animals would get hurt if I left it.
