Teach Soap

so a few people have been bothering me to create a women's aftershave for the itching associated with shaving *ahem* unmentionables. since I go places with these people, having them shifting around in public to alleviate the itching is a no-go. Any ideas to help me? Please? LOL

Sorry, but I wouldn't touch that with a 10 foot pole. If some problem arose and you got sued, you could loose everything. I would suggest for them to get some aloe or purchase an over the counter product that specifically made for this problem in this area.

Ah no, not planning on selling!:) It's just my mom and my aunt lol. I've tried giving them aloe vera, and the already made products but those seem to be made more like lotion for legs and underarms, and seem to give more ingrown hairs which is just icky. I make my dad an aftershave with alcohol and witch hazel...I'm wondering if it would be too "strong" for those tricky areas. I don't know, I just thought I'd toss the idea out there and see if anyone else had any tricks or tips they use LOL

What a sweetheart you are! But if my Mom and my Aunt were shaving their ( ^*@!#%) I wouldn't even what to know about it

Hahahah well, my family are like "The Osbournes". No topic is too off the wall, and nothing is ever sacred. You get used to it LOL:) Hence why I'm trying to do this, because my mother insists on jokingly pretending to scratch in public to get her point across that I simply must make her a new product to test. If I wasn't so scared of the short woman, I'd shove her. LOL

I would be hesitant to try alcohol in that area. Witch hazel might be better, but most of the store bought stuff has alcohol in it too.

What about a hydrosol? I use several from Mountainrose Herbs for my face...

A lavender/chamomile/lemon balm/rose blend might be lovely...

Well, after months of testing, I've solved the problem! LOL

I used 1/2 cup of aloe vera gel, 1 1/2 tbs of water, 1 tbs witch hazel, around 10 drops or so of a fragrance they both liked. Worked AMAZING. I didn't use a preservative as I only make one batch of it, since it was for testing, but I'm shocked. No more itching, no ingrown hairs, worked like a charm and didn't burn or anything!:)

My question now though, is what kind of a preservative might work in this if I wanted to make up bigger bottles for them to save my sanity from needing to make it every two weeks or so? lol since its just for us to use, couldn't I just add a bit of tea tree oil? I don't know, just checking with you guys who know much more than I;)

Hmm.....maybe I'll get samples of a few of them and send out a few samples to my lab. I do most of my own testing, since I have a Bachelors degree in chemistry/biology, and cellular science when it's just for me or me and my family, but the ones for the store go to Sunbeam Labs here in Toledo OH, simply because the owner is a long time friend of my dads, and lets me play in the lab when I go, and mooch supplies off of him from time to time LOL.
