I just got this today and I think it smells divine!! The description said it would turn my soap a "milky dark brown", so I thought I would make mine into a mocha...the dark brown on the bottom and then the "foam" on top, sprinkled with cocoa powder.

All was going well until my "milky dark brown" ended up being baby poop yellow. I added some cocoa powder to see if I could darken it up, but that didn't seem to help and I was afraid to add too much lest I change the fragrance in any way. Anyway, I continued with the rest of the layers, thinking maybe I could call it a "Spiced Latte" or something.

But I am wondering, what did I do wrong to not get the dark brown color, or what shoulda/coulda I have done differently? Will this actually end up darkening? I am hoping that when I unmold I will be pleasantly surprised with my layered mocha just the way I wanted it to be.

TIA!!

Ah! I have some of this on the curing shelf right now from the weekend! In the pot and poured into the mold it was yellowish. Taken out of the oven the next day, it was milky brown on the outside and yellow inside. Today it is not quite milk chocolate color but close. I expect it to get darker.

Adding this FO to OHP after cooking and cooling off a bit makes it stay much lighter. Seems the interaction with the lye kicks the browning into overdrive. It smells yummy either way.

It turned out exactly as I had hoped!! The panic was for nothing and my soap looks like I could eat it and smells so yummy! I need to remember the login for my Photobucket so I can post pics.

Yes, I use this FO as well and love it although it's not that poplular. Did you leave your white top layer unscented? It sounds like your soap turned out well. Mine always goes a dark brown.

I love that FO for me. But someone at the shows always asks me if I've got somthing to get cooking smells off their hands or they want a soap for a man and I steer them to the Turkish Coffee. I also add coffee grounds to mine. I don't make alot but I always make some.

For me, Turkish Mocha is a favorite of my family and customers. I also add fine coffee grounds, but only to one thin layer on top. I guess some like it and some don't

It sold pretty well for me the last time I did markets. Some people like foodie scents, some don't. I'm a like. :)

Day # 2 and they look fantastic! Thanks everyone for your replies. It sounds like I will just have to wait and see as to how the market here responds to this scent (I suppose that is true of any scent really).
