Teach Soap

I bought one of a month or so ago and am having such a good time learning about photographing soaps and also a few electronic parts. So Meritline is having another promotion. It is interesting and this is a fun set if you need a light box as it is all inclusive. Of course on ehow dot com there are instructions for making a viable one at home that also works. It's all good!

That doesn't seem badly priced considering that it includes shipping. How's it working for you, Mella? Do you get blue backgrounds with it? Or do you still use white over the blue?

I've done the do-it-yourself lightbox and light tent with additional lighting and I still get dark backgrounds and shadows.

Do you know anything about the background removal feature in the photo editing software that comes with it? I need one that doesn't involve erasing around the object by hand.

I have only used the white background. I have done cropping but I find that with a good overhead light in my kitchen and the two portable lights with the set work really well. I haven't done the blue background and removed it except in photoimpact type software. For me I really prefer an ivory or white backdrop to work with the shadows add a bit of a nice touch I think, some texture if that makes sense!

Haven't used the blue at all. I plan on down the line adding a piece of old wall paper or nice paper from album crafting sites. Haven't tried that yet.

It is a compact set but does take some getting use to, but I really enjoy it. That said I think if I were doing this as a business enterprise, I'd set up the photo set up once a week and do all the photography at once rather than like I do ones and twos! HTH

Just a note that the photo editing software that comes with this lightbox kit is designed for Windows XP, so if you don't have XP it won't work for you.
