Yesterday I did some M and P clear bars with fragrance, some pale coloring some no coloring.

The uncolored bars look cloudy. This is the LCD clear base I melted very carefully and I'm sure it didn't over heat.

What else could I have done to cause this cloudiness? This has never happened to me before. Any ideas? thanks guys! :?

Have used this FO before? If not, that's what it could be.

I 9.9 times out of 10 use FO's with Melt and Pour soaps. I really do not think that FO's affect the behavior of a melt and pour soap like it can in the cold process. In all my experience at least it hasn't ever happened to me nor have I read of it happening to others, that I recall.

Most of my MP soaps use fragrance oils. Some do discolor and can make the clear soap look cloudy.

Well I'll have to look at that factor again, but I do not think that is what it is.

I will duplicate my recipe from November and see what's up and let you know! I was thinking it may be the different m and p base, but perhaps it is the FO. Well see!!

Well I did a little test of 5 FO's and into 1/4 cup of white m and p with a peach liquid color. Well one of the FO's did eat the color of the test soaps! Wow I have been doing this since Nov and had NO idea that FO's would eat color in M and P! So soapbuddy I imagine you are correct that FO's can cloud clear m and p soaps too! Thanks guess I'll have to be careful!

It always a good idea to test any color or FO before you make a batch. :) Believe me, I learned the hard way.
