That is what I would have thought. But this is what the directions say here:
http://www.wholesalesuppliesplus.com/Pr ... uctID=3273

"On low heat, warm base to 120º F or until it becomes liquid. Add cosmetic grade fragrance and FDA approved color additive. Pour into container. Allow to return to room temperature and apply top. Label per FDA label requirements.

Note: Amount of fragrance cannot exceed IFRA guidelines (listed for each fragrance on this website) and should not exceed this products “Maximum Fragrance Load”. If your lotion does not remain white when you rub it into your skin then you have used too much color. If product significantly thins you have used too much fragrance. "

You can take their word for it, but I'm pretty sure that's wrong. Anytime you heat up a lotion or a cream base you will compromise the preservative. I make gallons of lotion for my customers and I would never heat it back up just to add a fragrance or color. You can do that easily enough without heating it.

Update:
I felt funny about it saying I needed to heat it up, so I contacted the company and here is what they said:
You don't have to heat it if you feel you don't need too, but it helps the fragrance to be more evenly incorporated. But she did say doing it in a zip loc baggie with everything room temp would be just fine if I wanted to.

I just find it interesting that in all the 86 reviews of how amazing the product was, no one mentioned it needing to be heated, or not heated.
