Hello there!

I'm pretty new at soap making and have been reading as many books/forums/web sites as I can and haven't been able to find a good answer to my problem...

With some of my soaps it seems like the FOs come to the top and pool up in little puddles as the soap is hardening. At first I thought I was spraying too much alcohol on it but when I touch the moisture on top it's definitely an oil and smells just like the fragrance I put in. This leaves the soap looking very rough on top and pock-marked. Definitely not pretty!

Any ideas about what's going on and how I can prevent this? Thanks!!

Are you using good quality MP base? Is the fragrance MP safe?

That can also happen if you use too much Fragrance.
.25 to .5 oz of fragrance per pound of MP should be okay...

I've been using BB bases and FOs so I trust the quality.

Maybe I've been putting too much FO in the soap... When making a small batch I have a har dtime knowing how to measure such a small amount of fragrance. If I'm making a single bar (to test if I'll like it) then that's only 1/16 to 1/8 oz (I think) of FO and my pipettes measure in milliliters.

I always knew math would come back to haunt me! hahah! :lol:
