Teach Soap

Hi everyone I finally got all my oils so I made my first soap batch ever, yay!



I hope these images work they are GM soap with alaknet root powder coloured swirl. I kinda like the brown the powder made the swirl, it looks like marble cake. Not sure if the swirls are how they are supposed to be but hey they're there now.

What gorgeous color! They look fantastic!

Yaaaaay! Good for you! Congrats on your first batch! That's so exciting.

Thanks so much guys, it is unscented, as I have friends with sensitive skin and want them to try it when it is cured, it should smell a little sweet because of the goats milk and there is about 3.5 Tbsp of honey in there too, I was going to add some ground oats but hadn't got aroung to crushing them, oh well that just means I'll have to make some more ha ha ha. I'll post some pics in a few hours when it's ready to be cut.

Thanks again everyone but I'm affraid they did not look so good cut, I dont know what I did wrong, I followed my recipie, the soap was definately at trace when I poured it. Well here are the pics, any help would be much appreciated.

Looks like your batch might have overheated, or you poured at too thick of a trace. The holes that I see; are they filled with liquid or are they empty? Does the soap zap?

I touched my finger on the soap and then onto my tounge but no zapping, there was liquid (looked like oil) in the holes. I was thinking that it got too hot but I took the towels off as soon as full gel had been reached. I felt the centre when gelling and it feltr quite hot. Can it be re-batched and if so can I do it today or do I have to wait until it is hard, also if it is rebatched can it be used immediately after it has hardened up? Thanks

Sounds like it overheated then. If there is no zap, I would rebatch. You shouldn't need any extra added water, since the soap is still new.

How long do I cook it for in the doubble boiler? can it then be used as soon as it is set?
