Teach Soap

I'm looking for recipes that are specifically aimed at dry skin and oily skin. It would be helpful to know what base oils and EO's are most beneficial to either dry or oily skin. I want to make a dry skin bar and an oily skin bar...

I offer different soaps in my line for both dry and oily skin. I basically use the same base oils in both. I use a combination of EVOO, CO, PO, CaO and shea butter. It seems to me that the additives are what make the soap beneficial for either dry or oily skin. Lemongrass EO is very good for oily skin--it has astringent qualities. Tea Tree oil is good for acne prone skin, as it is a good anit-bacterial and anti-fungal. Lavender EO is also said to be good for acne. I also like to use a clay (I use Rhassoul) in a facial bar soap---depending on the clay used, it can have detoxifying qualities without being drying to the skin.

Ditto Susan. I have also found over the years that our soaps are just so much better than commercial ones, it doesn't have to have a specific ingredient for oily or dry. All my soaps are goatmilk and I used to recommend Lavender ones to the people asking for an "acne" bar. Anyone with dry skin can use any of them. I got a call from someone who got a bar scented with Black Raspberry Vanilla as a Christmas present---- she wants more because it's the first soap she's ever used that cleared up her face. I think commercial soaps are just so harsh that what we make helps just about everyone.

I don't make specific claims on any of my soaps. Since quality ingredients are used, I find handmade soaps work great for almost anyone.

Yes, I do get asked for recommendations all the time. And I will relay info about specific EO's and additives, or say 'this EO is said to.....' But I don't make any claims in advertising. I think soapbuddy and knine are absolutely right---- Quality ingredients=quality soap=good for everyone!!
