Well I have a shelf full of eo's and fo's and now I want to try straight up

!. vanilla extract / imitation clear from my baking cupboard

2. Anise extract also clear and not imitation from my baking cupboard

Have you or any of you friends tried this in M&P or in CP? What was the result?

I'd try it myself but I'm out of M&P and OO!

I haven't tried vanilla or anise but I have used lemon extract in my M&P. You can defintely use extracts in your soapmaking. For the lemon I found I need about 1-2 tsp per lb of base. But I basically just keep adding extract until I get the strength I am looking for.

I'm wondering if you may need vanilla stabilizer for the vanilla extract. If you try vanilla extract and the soap turns brown then try it again with the stabilizer.

I don't know if vanilla stabilizer is necessary as the clear vanilla is an imitation specifically for white puddings and not causing them to color. It would be a good experiment! Thanks candybee!

I tried some anise extract in MandP but it was old so it wasn't a very good test, and was very weak, because I was afraid to use too much. Ha

So I want to make a few bars of soap for a friend that is allergic to fragrances. It will be plain white soap, and I want to put some type of scent into it. I'm hoping imitation/ie clear vanilla will work. I'll let you know, or if anyone else has tried this please give me a heads up!

Has anyone tried honey powder in their M&P to scent a naked bar. I just can't seem to get myself to make a M&P bar for an alergic friend without any fragrance at all.

Could I use some powdered honey

Could I use real honey

Would food extract do the job,

Or just some powdered cilantro

Or just some cinnamon on the top like or in a line in the middle?

There must be some scent I can use that wouldn't hurt a sensitive skin.

Any ideas that have proven out? Guess I need to get testing!

Perhaps oil infusion of some rather light cinnamon or nutmeg might work, has anyone tried this? Maybe I should do a 1 lb loaf but try different spices for fun. Hum. But honey powder sounds much yummier.

I think honey (powder or "real") would be your best choice for someone with sensitive skin. Spices can react differently with different people, and some people are allergic to cinnamon - I think Soapbuddy is, actually. I have used honey in MP, about half a teaspoon per bar - 100g or so. That would be the way to go, I'd say.
