Hi, All ... I'm kicking off with my Valentine Soap, which is a disaster whichever way I look at it! First, there must have been a hole in my mould lining, so it took me and OH about an hour to get it out of the mould. The 'non-bleeding red pigment' ... bled, and my letter O turned into a U!

So, if any of you out there want to send your special person a Luve soap on 14 Feb, let me know ... !

I dunno, but I kinda think it's a useful mistake...for people that don't get all gooshy over Valentine's Day...

 Thank you all, but it got worse: I figured that if I carried on slicing then maybe, just maybe, the letter O had behaved itself somewhere in the middle and I'd have a couple of saleable slices. But oh no! Halfway through it went to 'Luue', then about 2 slices from the end I was reading 'Cuue'. !! Plus, the mould lining had leaked, so I had to dig the thing out. There's only so much mis-spooling a girl can take, so I've chopped it up. I'll wreak my revenge tomorrow!
Cuue you all! xx

Soapmaking must be very therapeutic for us. It seems no matter what disasters we encounter, we can always laugh about it.

OK here is mine, a rebroadcast of that dreded first batch! hahha

Image

It was a lumpy rather ugly little one pound test loaf. Thank you soapbuddy for leading me to a very nice 1 pound recipe. Soaping lye temp 115 degrees was dropping so quickly and oil was 137 so I went for it. Cooked in the crockpot on low 1 hour and turned into lumpy goo.

I slammed it into mold put a mica line in it and smeared the top and there you have it. Well it turned out to have tiny think small curd cottage cheezy, white spots, raw lye? Smelt burnt! Not sure. I use this soap after 2 months and I love it! So who really knows, when I tested the center of the crock pot for any un soponified bits, there were none. The feel is just lovely. Wouldn't sell it as it' not perfect!

But wait that's not all see new topic, MY SECOND batch is looking good, oh another topic!

Mella ... that looks far from a tragedy! Looks to me like a yummy white chocolatey bar! What does it smell of?

My tragedy soap began smelling scorched, rather burnt. It cured for 2 months and now is really lovely. The fragrance was moonlight pomegranate BB and a touch of Black Tea BB and somehow the burnt smell is gone and the fragrance is lovely. The soap is creamy and I keep it for us here at home.

Captain Bubbles I think your soap looks really funky! And I agree that the young 'uns would probably think that it's spelled right!
Mella your soap looks absolutely delicious! Looks like white chocolate with raspberry!

Hehe I Cuue this thread! It reminds me of Cake Wrecks, but with soap! Well here are my tragedies (the ones that survived long enough to have photos taken of them!)

Image
This one was my first attempt of my 'Jinny' soap lol. Originally Jinny was meant to be swirly, but it didn't work...as you can see! Looks more like I've puked into a soap mould  It also doesn't smell very nice (I got a FO supplier to make a scent for me - Rose, Elderberry and Blackberry, but it just smells far too 'sickly' - no pun intended!)

Image
This one was meant to be a simple lavender soap. But noooooooooo.... I had to add some lavender sprinkles... which looked fine. Until I added some purple glitter.... which then looked stupid, so I tried to fix (?) it with a dusting of mica (which are the brown blobs!). Sometimes, LESS is definitely MORE!

Hi everyone!
I made some texting soaps for my etsy shop hoping that they would appeal to the younger set. All of them turned out pretty good and even this one looks good but I embedded the "6" in backwards! It's supposed to be 6Y txt slang for SEXY. Oh well, I still put it on the site and just marked it down $2 to $3.50. I'm curious to see if it sells or not. I also made some other texting soaps take a look at
http://www.etsy.com/shop/MySpaSecrets?s ... id=6662346 and let me know what you think. I need some help here because what I'm making, I think it looks great but I'm not getting the sales I think I should be getting. Do you think my prices should be lower? I seem to be priced the same as all the other M&P sites on here. I just don't know what to do about it. I have a lot invested in all the soaps I've made but really most of all I enjoy making soaps and have lots of fun doing it.
Thanks!
Lisa
