Teach Soap

I was wondering how many of you use rosemary eo? I have some and thought about using it but kind of got scared because when you look it up, rosemary is a convulsant. It does say that in small quantities it is ok but I don't want to be responsible for anything bad happening. What is ya'lls opinions on this?

Doesn't BB have a bug b gone scent that has this? I can't remember if rosemary is part of it, but you can look under the thread for Bug B Gone. I do know it can be used as a insect repellent...

Rosemary Essential Oil has been used safey for centuries in candles, soaps and toiletries. Like all products though, it does have a suggested useage rate. Negative effects happen when the usage rates are not respected.

Rosemary EO is very strong in smell. Though you can safely use up to 3% in leave on products (creams, massage oils, perfumes), using more than .5% does not produce a much stronger smell. A little goes a long way. You can safely use up to 5% in rinse of products such as soaps or liquid soaps.

Rosemary is a stimulant and when used heavily, can cause muscle spasms. For this reason, it is not recomended for epileptics or those expecting children.

When used within safey guidelines (which include not ingesting it) you should have no trouble with this oil and in fact, should enjoy the positive effects of reputed muscle ache and pain relief, anti-dandruff properties and as a room refresher.

I blast 1/2 cup rosemary and 1/2 cup comfrey in the coffee grinder to use in soap. I add 1tsp ppo for a really pretty deep green swirl. I used it in my CP facial soap where I swirled green (comfrey/rosemary) and charcoal (1tsp ppo as well).

Be aware that if you put fresh rosemary into MP, it will grow mold or mildew, due to the herb's water content.
