Hehehehehehe  I just made some whipped soap. It was so easy to make, and I "iced" my choc cakes well. THEN I tried to pipe some. I've never piped icing in my life. I don't even know what each nozzle does. So of course, I chose a very unsuitable one. So, I scraped all the "pipings" off the board, then remembered I hadn't added the fragrance  So I added Turkish Mocha FO, and filled two heart molds. Now the FO soaps are turning yellow :? Isn't soapmaking a fun experience. It certainly teaches you not to take yourself too seriously. I'm having a ball, even with the hiccups. I wonder what fun I would have had if I'd made up a full recipe, instead of only half?

If anyone wants to make whipped soap, you can't do better than this -

Thanks Nizzy, and Soapbuddy, for such a simple method with such a great result.
BTW, I used the vege recipe.

I think they look great for your first try! As someone who has decorated cakes with tips and a decorator bag for over 30 years for many family occassions it can take awhile to get used to. I would suggest just using the star tip and place the stars as close or apart as you like them. Almost anything can be made this way... even flowers if you put a dot in the center of the star.
I checked out the web site and now I have something more I want to try with my soaps! I never would have thought that soap making would lead me down soooo many paths! I think I have alot of lucky family and friends who will benfit from my new hobby.
Thanks for push in the next direction.

Good for you! It is easy; isn't it? :)
That particular fragrance has Vanilla I believe. that's why it's turning yellow. Over time that yellow will most llikely turn brown.

At the moment it's a darkish cream, but no doubt it will "morph" over time.

Susie, thanks for the tip. I'll try the star next time for sure!

Just had a thought (my brain lags behind sometimes!) If whipped soap is done cold, is it necessary to use warm oils and lye for unwhipped soap? The whipped soap saponifies with no problem, so why wouldn't soap made the usual way be OK made cold. Just wondered. :?

That made me think,,,, you would still need to blend the oils and lye mixture and if the oils were solid the blending would then be like a whipped mixture, maybe just not as much air in it. I think we warm the oils just to get them to melt and to get the oils and lye at the same temp. I did read somewhere on the net that there are soapmakers that make their lye up way ahead of time so it is at room temp but I do not rememeber what they said about the oils -many are solid at room temp.

You can soap with room temp oils and lye. This method works the best if you are familiar with soapmaking already.
I use beeswax in my batch, so I need to have my oils warm.

Well, what can I say? Of course some oils are solid at room temp. I did say my brain was a bit slow sometimes. I think I might try some at melting point, and see what happens. It's just so much fun experimenting, isn't it :D

I love experimenting, but I'd also love to have your experience, soapbuddy!
