Teach Soap

...your husband no longer asks you what you're thinking about when he sees that far away look in your eyes. Instead, he just says, "What kind of soap are you making in that head of yours now?"

I am seriously having so much freaking fun making soap. I've not been as excited about anything in a really long time. I mean, really, the possibilities are endless!

sometimes you want to say soup but the word "soap" comes out of your mouth instead?

Instead of looking at items, I look at what they're packaged in, to see if they'd make a good mould for a soap. I also look at the kids biscuit cutters to see if I can use them for my M&P imbeds. Hubby says I'm well beyond any reasonable help.

...when you browse the Williams Sonoma catalogue and visualize most of the items as soapmaking tools.

they know you by name and know exactly what you are looking for (stainless steel anything) at the local thrift shop.

when you ask your husband to go to the hardware store and spend money on a table saw so you can build molds. Oooooh the light in his eyes, he was just swooning

when you learn woodworking because the DH is too lazy

when you prefer to shop online at your soap suppliers rather than the makeup store you once loved.

Sheesh I could go on and on....

When you would rather read about anything soap, fragrance, color, recipes, molds, micas rather than eat !

When you save photos from catalogs for color combinations, usually discarded containers are washed and saved for possibilities as molds and some certain cardboard boxes you have coveted are stacking up all around!

When your DH wonders when you will return to earth, and why in the heck you ask him to buy you some black electrical tape and PVC piping!

It's all good and such a clean obsession!

you go to sleep thinking about soap and you wake up thinking about soap! I tend to always have a new name or an idea by morning

Also I agree with the previous poster who said you want to say 'soap' instead of soup. I keep asking the hubby 'fancy a bowl of soap?' hehe he looks at me as if I'm mad!

You guys are cracking me up! I think I've done pretty much all of those things, except send my DH shopping for me. What a great hobby/business this is!

My poor father happens to be a custom cabinetmaker/woodworker. I'm 25, and live at home while taking care of health issues, and still daddy's little girl....I constantly find myself saying "Dad, ooh...can you make me........" He's got a list at least a page and a half long out in the garage LOL He doesn't complain much though, because he's the one who got his kids interested in science and learning, so to him this is genius The boyfriend? Not so much. He travels all over the world for his job as a lighting technician for concerts, so I'm constantly begging him to bring me back obscure things like oils and spices, etc. He hates it lol And grandma never knows what to buy my for christmas and is so confused when she has to wrap bottles of oils and put them under the tree LOL

You know you are addicted to soaping when you get up at 5 am turn on the coffee pot and forget to have a cup-a, cause you are trimming soap!

How about when you take a special trip into the basement just to visit the soaps that are curing there!
Then I find there is no way I can leave with out touching and smelling one. I also find myself taking photos of them - as if they were my babies! Is there any HELP for this??

Nope...I keep peering at my first finished batch like that will make it cure faster LOL. It's a blessing and a burden...we will persevere hahaha
