Piña Colada. It smells yummy but it makes me nauseous for some reason. so when I make soap with it I have to open the windows.

omg i bought a huge bottle of ginger essential oil.... the soap stunk so bad, to me it smelled like a gas station bathroom!

I am so glad to read other’s impressions of scents that literally make them ill. I have an amusing story about Lavender EO…

Five years ago this month I was scheduled to have major back surgery and needed to check in at the hospital (a 2 ½ hour ride from home) at 5:30 a.m. I knew I had a huge recovery in store and because I am a spinner/weaver and live on a ranch in Arizona where moths can be a real challenge, I was concerned about the amount of fleeces I had in the house and wanted to put lavender EO in all the different bags of wool I had.

My husband got up at 2 a.m. to find me going around the house with cotton balls and lavender bottle in hand and thought I had lost my mind! The house reeked of lavender…but I felt assured that the moths would be kept at bay. Everything seemed fine at first, but by the time we walked to the car I started coughing, and within a few minutes was wheezing and then the headache started! When we got to the hospital I had a 99.9 temp and they told me 1/10 a degree more and the surgery would be cancelled - I was desperate for the surgery and couldn’t believe how much of a reaction I was having to the EO as I had never previously had such a reaction to lavender before. I think I just got way carried away with the amount I used.

I was able to have the surgery and it was a wonderful success, but to this day the scent of lavender causes me huge breathing and headache problems…but the wool was all fine! Unfortunately, lavender soap is not an option for me!

I can't do patchouli- I know most love it but it makes me gag. :oops:
