Well - can I just shout this one out - Debbie/Soapylove came up to the Bay Area to teach a class at The Nova Studio. I had the pleasure and luxury to be able to attend the class since it's a stones throw from my house in Berkeley (okay so maybe not a stones throw but a simple car ride or would you believe me if I told you - one can ride along the Bay Trail and actually get there by bike! I've actually gotten there by that mode as well (on non-rainy day) one time for a class.

6 HOURS of fun filled soaping adventure. It was fantabulous and you not only leave with more soap (like we all need more :+}). But you learn new tips/tricks/techniques, motivation and confidence.

I've posted some pics on my facebook fanpage if you care to check them out. Then for some of you - you can put my face to my name :+} -- www.facebook.com/asliceofdelight.

If anyone on this forum can get to her next class in Arizona - I highly reccomend it!

Hilary

p.s. Oh yeah - the ultimate groupie thing - Debbie signing my copy of her Soapylove book.

How wonderful! 6 hours, I would have been in heaven. As it is, I feel like a chicken with its head cut off around the holiday season.

That's so cool, Hilary!

Your pictures came out nice, too. Thanks for sharing them!

I wish we had a soap place like the Nova Studio here in my neck of the woods where I could do classes and get supplies and whatnot. I'm in Northwest Florida ... and it is never going to stop raining!

Looks like you had a great time! I'm jealous, too, but also very happy for you. :D

I had a look at your pics earlier Hilary! Great ... looks like it was a fab day too, and I so want to know more about the salt bar. I'm so jealous (but in a good way).. if I wasn't on the other side of the world, I'd have gone too.. how cool would that have been!!!

What fun for you Hillary! It brings back memories as I spent last Sat and Sun at Nova with Lori's classes! Amazing what a new hobby can do for one! Thanks for the photos!

Thanks for all your replies and words of happiness. Yeah - the timing of her class was perfect for my psyche - I had a fair on Sunday the week before which tuckered me out - her class was meant as a 'break' (Soapbuddy - this allowed me to be that chicken but kept my head on) for me and then this upcoming Saturday I have a big street fair. So basically all the soaps I made have been wrapped and sent off to in-law family members for their holiday presents. I love my in-laws but my 'sellable' soaps stayed at my house. So the class was one of those times when you can make mistakes and laugh about it. Like the globe soap. We used a candle globe mold (I tried to find a link but will have to search more) - my ducks head was not 100% positioned well. When we popped it out there was still some soap sticking out of the open hole - in my attempted to shave/cut this extra bit of soap I actually cut into the ducks head. Uh oh! -- I got to do another one and gave the one with the hole to my identical boys - they did not care. Whatever things I can help explain or share I'd be happy too.

Jrose729 - who knows maybe you will be the next Lori Nova of the east coast. Don't understimate what is possible. And just so you know - it rained ALL day during class - so there's a roadblock which has proved can be eliminated. :+}

Hi everyone! It's me, Debbie!

Thank you Hilary for this glowing post about the class on Saturday! I'm so glad that you had fun and enjoyed the class. My cold was really bumming me out, so I'm relieved that it didn't effect your experience!

Yes, the ball soaps were tricky and the molds were being very stubborn. For those wondering about them, here is a picture:

Ideally they should freeze for much longer. I was trying to rush them a bit for the class.

Anyway, everyone's soaps came out great, especially the Candy Cane Loaf Soaps!

For more info pics of The Nova Studio, . For a complete list of Soapylove classes and events, .

Thanks everyone!

They look great Debbie, i tried doing something like that a while ago, but i used a plastic bath bomb mould. The soap just got suck in the mould.

Debbie i think you should come to the U.K to do some classes.

Well if it's any consolation, our ball soaps were almost stuck, too! I've heard tennis balls work really well. It would be awesome if there were silicone ball molds. Maybe there are - a little internet research might be in order! :)

Regarding going to the UK to teach, well that would be fab!! Are there any schools, studios, or other types of shops that might want to host a few classes? I would need to teach 2 or 3 to at least cover my costs. I'm open to the idea, though!!

Uff, that lucky to attend a class Soapylove, I can not wait to do it, but since Spain is a bit complicated, but lost hope to do this and try to be positive: it's on my list for 2010. :D

I know there are alot of you around the world and isn't that just *so* cool how far reaching Debbie's gift to teach and educate has become through her book, ezines, videos and blog.

Someday, oneday, it would not surprise me ----> "Soapylove's - International Tour"....
