Hi Everyone-

I was just wondering if anyone had successfully made a M&P Salt bar without using foaming bath butter? I don't have any on hand, and I just ordered supplies, so I probably won't be ordering for awhile. Just curious!

To be honest I really haven't tried without the FBB. I had previously tried but the FBB made such a difference and it worked so well for me that I have continued on with Armygrl's recipe and haven't gone back and tried again. Maybe someone else has managed it now.

If you do please let us know how your experiments go, I would be really interested to learn how it can be done.

Hi, Shell, Soapbuddy and Magic_Hands! Thanks for the welcome back. I've been busy over the past couple months - my mom had a heart attack in May and I had to go home to take care of her until she recovered then I was sick myself when I came back to Hawaii. Since I returned to work I've been too busy or too tired to make soap or even visit the forum. There's so much stuff for me to read up on! Belated congratulations btw, Soapbuddy on becoming a grandma! Your grandson looks adorable. I hope your son found a good job.
I hope someone benefits from this M&P salt bar recipe especially when they want to use FOs that don't react well to being soaped with the CP method or just want to try making something a little different from the usual M&P bar.

Well I did it. Made a M&P Salt Bar without fbb. I don't have a picture, and frankly it was UGLY....but I think it actually turned out ok. Probably could have done with more salt in it ultimately, but ya'll are right...almost no lather at all and it was almost impossible to get into the mold, but I think I'm going to keep working on it and see what I can get. Might have to break down and get some paraben free, as natural as possible fbb (I would love suggestions if anyone has any on where to get it), but overall it was just ok. Glad I tried it

First of all, thank you Armygirl for sharing this.

Tried this twice with no success. The first batch was exactly to original recipe and it was way too soft. As I re-read the thread, I noted others who used Shea butter MP also had same problem. The second batch I upped the Shea MP in the recipe by half and lowered the FBB by half. This held together but has major sweats. What is going on? Maybe I need to just use a plain MP base? Any input/help would be appreciated.

Just got my foaming bath butter today and am about to make some salt bars tonight. Can't wait till kiddies go to bed! Discovered that I don't have enough table salt
so am going to mix it with a little epsom hope it works!!
