Teach Soap

Hello all,
I ordered some premade lotion base now what do i do with it? Do i need to heat it to add fragrance? How much do i add? Got anxouis should have done my research before buying but i bought the icky stuff from the craft store and wanted something better.

Add 1/2 to 1oz. of B&B safe fragrance oil to 1 gallon of base. Don't heat it! That would compromise the preservative that's already in there. You shouldn't add more preservative to your base. That could be irritating to the skin. Use a ziplock bag then cut a corner cut off to squeeze the lotion into your bottles after you add your scent.

Would anyone suggest a FO for an almond scented lotion. Could the same FO be used in a shampoo and a bath fizzie? Perhaps they aren't interchangeable.

This may sound like a silly question, but if you buy that premade base, how do you mix in your fragrance. What kind/how do you add color to it? Not like a bright red or anything, but I was thinking if I could do a pale pink for Valentine's day that would be nice. Is the container it comes in (if you buy from BB) large enough to mix in the stuff too? Like I was thinking maybe get a stick blender or something, like you might use for mixing drinks. Would that work? I do you just dump it in a mixing bowl or pyrex and stir stir stir? Forgive me if that is not right, but I am still learning. I am trying to increase my product line (right now I am just doing salt scrub, candles and MP soap bars) for doing some Valentine's day gift Baskets.

I'm glad I stumbled on this thread. I've been wanting some liquid soap for my kitchen and bath that does not have all the anti-bacterial stuff in it. Everything I see in the stores has that added in. Now I know where I can get some and the zip-loc tip is the tops!!

What kind of colorant should you use for lotion/shower gel/bubble bath base? I am thinking I will just get a gallon of each just to play around, and I was wondering what type colorant I need to get.

So, labcolors, right? Thats FDC in glycerin, no? There are so many different types of...well, everything that sometimes it makes my head spin!

I say skip a step and mush the fragrance around in the ziplock bag....
