Teach Soap

So i have been looking online and it seems there are a bunch of different Palm oils. Palm fruit stearin, palm kernel oil, palm kernel stearin, palm fruit oil....Which one is the one I should use for soap making? Also I hear all this talk about how palm oil is ruining the rain forest and bad etc. If i buy organic does that mean its safer?

Palm is different from palm kernel as they have different SAP values. I don't use straight palm, but if you want ethically harvested palm oil, I would suggest you take a look at Columbus Foods.

I am a fairly new soaper but have had several nice batches. However, a word of caution about palm oil. I purchased some orange palm oil at a local international market. It smelled very pungent (nicely put) but not knowing any better, I thought maybe it mellowed out in the soap. I made a large batch that came out a beautiful yellow and cured into a lovely, lathery soap. Sad to say, it still smells bad, but is slowly getting less offensive. I did rebatch some of it with tea oil for my son and his girlfriend, which they really like. Also rebatched some with a scent called Ambur Wood. Actually, this came out kind of nice with the yellow soap. Since then I have found some white, ordorless plam oil shortening at Smith's grocery. So, just be careful. If it smells bad in the jar, it will smell bad in your soap

Of the many kinds of Palm oil, I only use Palm kernel oil..And as soap buddy said, columbus foods(www.soaperschoice.com) is wonderful, and so is Magestic Mountain Sage (www.thesage.com)
