Teach Soap

I was reading the topic on the focus group and read the comment about "having insurance". I'm not making soap to sell, just give as gifts so is there still a need for insurance and what kind would that be? I would hate to put my family at risk for a hobby. Could someone advise? Thank You

If you give a bar of soap to someone who has a reaction of some kind to it they could come after you for it. It is a good idea to have insurance before you give any away. I know it can be hard to justify the cost of insurance when there is no money being made but there is a peace of mind I can't do without. I agree with Bruce. Depending where you live, you can also get insurance through the Soapmakers Guild, but you would need to become a member first.

I got mine from a local insurance company in our little town, it was cheaper than Soapmakers Guild. I'd try a small local company first - if it were me.
