Teach Soap

I just made a batch of cpop yesterday and it's weird. It's 24 hours and is solid but the outside has a lot of bubbles and it's very wet. I have left it in the mold, I used a silicone pan. It's the same recipe I have been using but the others I didn't put in the oven. The recipe is fairly basic, Olive Oil, Coconut Oil, Palm, Caster, and Shea Butter. I would appreciate any help. Can't figure out if it's the pan as I've made this recipe before without any problem. I even did it once in the oven in a wooden mold without issue. I'm stumped.

Is it possible that it overheated? What temp did you use?

I had it on warm about 170 for one hour. I turned the oven off and when it was cool I took it out. Do you think maybe the silicone pan let the soap get too hot?

How warm were your oils and lye when you combined the two? Did you use any fragrance or essential oils? Some can make the soap overheat and don't need to go in the oven. They will gel on it's own.

The oils were at about 100 and the only thing I added was Lavender EO. Since I haven't done the cpop for a while, I'm thinking you were right about the overheating. I did the non gel for a while but I kept getting soap ash. I used both the sl and beeswax. I tried making the oils warmer and still ash. That's why I tried the cpop again.

I've had that issue with silicone before - I think it's a better insulator than we realize, kwim? I prefer my wooden molds for CPOP.

I think you are right. I'll have to keep trying. Now that it is curing it looks a lot better. I did a lavender swirl. Sometimesw I almost think I know what I'm doing...
