A few wrap up points

1. Biodegradable shrinkwrap is available (that's good) which I just havn't gotten around to using since I had the bio cello bags to start and need to finish using those up.

2. Nice to know you don't need a shrink wrap machine to start to use the material.

3. Ingredients in the SFIC clear -
Coconut Oil
Palm Oil
Safflower Oil
Glycerine (kosher, of vegetable origin)
Purified Water
Sodium Hydroxide (saponifying agent)
Sorbitol (moisturizer)
Sorbitan oleate (emulsifier)
Soy bean protein (conditioner)

4. Ingredients in the SFIC Crystal Clear
Coconut Oil
Palm Oil
Safflower Oil
Glycerine (kosher, of vegetable origin)
Purified Water
Coco Amidopropyl Betaine (surfactant made from coconut oil)
Sodium Hydroxide (saponifying agent)
Sorbitol (moisturizer)
Sorbitan oleate (emulsifer)
Soy bean protein (condition)

4. It is the coco Amidoproply that creates that nice clarity but once that is added to the soap it is no longer 'all natural'. SFIC told me that. That became both an issue for me when I claim all my soaps are all natural.

5. So the solution to trying to get an almost 'clear' look (but it also depends too what fragrance you use because that can also affect the soap color as well a bit) to the soap with a very thin layer to start in the mold is to use Blessing Blue from TKB - and only a drop or two with 1/4 oz. of soap.

Thanks all for a truly informative post.
Hilary

Here is my way to use shrink wrap cheaply. I bought a used heat (one used for food) sealer for $1.00 at a second hand store (this is my second one) and then I cut each shrink wrap piece I need for each soap I'm going to wrap. Then I seal one end with the cheap sealer then pop my soap in and then seal the other end. Then I use a heat gun to shrink the wrap around my soap. I got my gun at Canadian Tire for like $30.00.

Yes, it's more time consuming then the wand machines out there but has worked for me over the past few years. I started with saran and just got addicted to shrink wrap.
