Thanksgiving is tomorrow for those of us in the US (not sure its celebrated other places). I'm going to get up and do at least one batch of soap in the morning before I start making Thanksgiving dinner. We're eating at 1 and my sister is bringing the turkey, and I do cphp so it frees up my stove to cook potatoes and other stuff (covered of course) so I figure if I get up at 4 that will give me plenty of time to do a batch or 2 and clean up (maybe even unmold and cut) before noon. Tomorrow is bb's pinapple cilantro day - yeahhhh, FINALLY! I thought I'd do part of it with a simple castille and the other part with a simple lard as these are for me and only my very closest of friends. Certainally NOT for sale, too special.

Anyone else?

Hello Sunkawakan
Well I'm so excited because tomorrow I will be making my first batch of bath bombs, so wish me luck, we won't be eating Turkey because there is only three in my family and one turkey is too much for us but we'll have chicken instead LOL. Good luck with your bb's pineapple cilantro fragrance.

No soap for Thanksgiving as I will be cooking food. I hope to make some soap the day after.

I have had my whole kitchen covered with product so my best friend asked us over to her house! Yippee, I only had to make mashed potatoes, dressing and sweet potatoe casserole.

While I was cooking I make the loveliest orange and clove essential oil soap. I looks like the most decadent Christmas dessert concoction. And it smells delish too.

i just tried to upload it and even though compressed, form says picture too big. drats.

I ended up doing an experiment. I made my lard soap and then took a portion of it, colored it green and added a few handfuls of sugar and added a mixture of eucalyptus, sage, and cedar then glopped it in the mold intermittently with the plain. I then ran a stick through it to lightly mix it up. My attempt at a partial sugar bar. Turned out... really pretty considering it was my first attempt at "swirls" and using 2 colors. Smells heavenly but the green is REALLY soft even this morning and the sliver I used in the shower this morning fell apart. Still nice soap, just the green is really soft. I'll post pics when I get my computer back (going in the shop in a few minutes). I'll see how it is in a few days, hopefully it won't be so soft. I added salt with lye water (my usual lard recipie, tried and true). Any suggestions?

Wow! salt and sugar ,where to begin. IMHO I think all that sugar was more than you would ever put into soap. And then salt too? If I we're you Id drop back and take little steps . Soap making is more like baking ( everything needs measured ) than cooking where you won't throw off the recipe if you add alittle here and there. Hang in there and good luck

I started Thanksgiving thinking I wasn't going to have time to make anything crafty but I ended up making a last minute sugar scrub at about 10 or 11 pm for a friend of mine. So I was wrong. i had time. It was like Christmas for me. I got to cook AND make some bath products. My two favorite things :D

So, here is the soap I made Thanksgiving Day (see previous post). The green part is a little harder today though still somewhat soft, and so far it still smells heavenly (eucalyptus/sage/cedar). I'm wondering if I didn't add the sugar too soon and should have let it cool just a bit more before adding and molding. Thoughts?
