Can anyone help me? I need to make some special wedding soap (for next year, thankfully, so have months in which to make mistakes!) and I'd like to use 'pearls' on the top as decoration. I found some glorious Bath Caviar; little tiny pearlised beads which I though would be perfect, but when they're used on the soap the dissolve and leave nothing but little 'pearl acne' marks on the surface. Has anyone any solution ... ??? :(

You can use jojoba beads. If you need some let me know.

The silver jojoba beads are not as shiny as the pearls. They are also smaller. Here is a pic of the silver jojoba beads and also hot pink jojoba beads that are the same, but have a different color for comparison.

They are safe for soap and stay as little beads.

If they stay whole in soap, I'm halfway there! Thank you for the pics; they're tiny, aren't they? And the silver ones look black, or is that just the way the light's hit the photo? I'm planning on making a wedding cake, so perhaps I'll experiment with pearl lustre in uncoloured opaque M&P ... ? Still so envious of all the stuff you can get over there!!
Now I really am going to bed ... ! Had an early Christmas dinner today, because daughter and her boyfriend are off on a round-the-world (ish) tour on Thursday, so spent yesterday and today cooking. Plus, son was home from uni for his birthday so there was a (real!) cake to make.

Yes, they are tiny. You might be better off using silver mica. Mica would be more shiny than the silver jojoba beads. The beads don't have that much of a shine.

Dependent on the mould you use, you could get a pearl finish by brushing pearlised mica over your soaps (tiny bit is all) after you've demoulded.

Or maybe you could find an ice cube tray that does very small spherical shapes, then make a clear M&P soap coloured using only pearlised mica... then you'd have pearls. I wouldn't use it in opaque to be honest as it won't show up that well. You could add a little glitter too to give it a real shine if you wanted, very tiny amount though.

http://www.sensoryperfection.co.uk does/did have white jojoba beads but as discontinued stock so not sure if they're still available (great store for FOs though, very much recommended re quality).

What else? Hmmm sort of depends what soap you want to make and what your mould is ... could so a swirled soap with the brides colour and a pearlised clear together?

Maybe you could use some mold putty like flexy fast to make your own mold using pearls, then just do a double pour? Then it will actually be a part of the soap and less likely to come off?

Hi -

I would also check the bakeware section for those pearl fondant molds maybe? I don't remember exactly where I saw them but you can Google it...Or you can make your own mold like everyone said

Same site has all sorts of other options (I would have seen those had I realized there were additional pages), like...
