Teach Soap

Hey
I'm thinking about Xmas projects and thought it would be nice to try and make some shaving soap for my hubby. I've seen some simple recipes using melt and pour online. Looks like the main difference to normal mp soap is adding clay.

I just wondered if anyone here has tried making shaving soap and how were the results?

Cool thanks for that. i take it you're talking about ordinary run-of-the-mill Melt and Pour soap base, and just adding water? Sounds great!

Hi -

I add 2 teaspoon of clay to per pound of shea butter melt and pour and then pour into molds.
It works great for me.

Think I'll try the whipping method next

Meeshee- I made one that my dad adores! I took a regular coffee mug (actually, it's kinda small, so it might be a tea one lol) and melted 4oz of m&p base in the microwave. After it was melted, I stirred it and let it cool down a bit before adding two pinches of bentonite clay, a few drops of a manly scent, and a drop of blue soap dye. scientific, I know LOL BUT, it works great...I packaged it in a cello bag with a shaving brush and a regular disposable razor. He loves it, and won't use anything else now and keeps bringing me the empty mug to refill:) Hope this helps!
