So I've done all this research into my first batch of soap and the closer I get to actually making it, the more I seem to be second-guessing the information I've learned. I know it's just nerves but because I really want it to turn out nicely. Still, I wanted to stop and thank you all for putting up with my newb questions. You've really been a big help in sorting things out. And speaking of newb questions...here are a couple more.
When using fragrance oils, you generally add 1/2 oz per pound of soap. Correct?? My recipe that I'm trying just had the measurements for the oils, lye, and water and didn't account for fragrance or colorants.
Also, I just got my shipment from brambleberry and I'm a little confused on how to use my Lab Color. The website mentions something about using a formulary guide, but there wasn't one in the shipment. Was I supposed to receive one? The website also had instructions for diluting the lab color. It just so happens that my water amount for mixing my lye is 8 oz, which is the same as what I would need to dilute the lab color. Does this mean I could skip the whole diluting process and just pour the whole bottle of lab color in at trace? Or should I dilute the lab color and then use that to mix my lye solution?
Thanks for any advice you can give me.
