Teach Soap

Hello,

I'm looking into boxes for my soap. I was told that the box needs to be foil lined so the oils in the soap won't stain the box. Does anyone know if this is correct? Anyone using boxes that could give me some advice?

I've never heard of foil lining your box. If you are worried about the soap staining the box, just shrink wrap it. MP soap base seems to do best when it's shrink wrapped.

I've never heard of using foil either - The subject came up when I was speaking to a box company guy today.

It looks like they pack their soap in shredded paper - unwrapped??? I haven't ordered one so I'm guessing.

Are you familiar with them?

I'm in favor of shrink wrapping also. There are special polyefin shrink wraps that are perforated so your customers can smell the soaps through the wrap. Also, the company that I purchase from is out with a new bio-degradable shrink wrap called "bio-olefin".

Sure! The name of the company is "National Shrink Wrap" : http://www.nationalshrinkwrap.com/ (or just Google them). The owner's name is Art Marko and he will answer any questions that you have. They give great, personalized customer service and he is very familiar with soapers' needs.

I respect everyone's preference in wrapping their products, but from my experience, buying a shrink wrap system (several years ago) was one of the best things that I did to boost the professional appearance of my products. I get a lot of positive comments about my presentation.

Hmmm....I wonder if the shrink wrap will take the paint off the soap? I hand paint my soap after they cure. I think I'll have to experiment!

OH! I bet that is pretty!

I think that you'd have to be careful not to get the gun too close to the soap and wrap when you shrink them. You can get it too hot. But, if you're careful, it should be OK.

If you do end up talking to Art Marko, ask him that question directly. He is very experienced with soapers' needs - both Melt & Pour and Cold Process.

If I need to shrink wrap MP, I put it in the fridge for a couple of minutes. If you are worried about the design on the front, lightly spray it with hair spray.
