Hi all!

has anyone made a tallow soap recipe? Can you tell me what difference it adds? I have friends that won't use my soaps in the winter because they dry out their skin. Will using a Tallow soap recipe help with that? I am not against using Tallow, I just never have and don't know the benefits of it. Thanks!

~ L

Depending on your recipe, if you superfat more, it might make it less drying. As far as tallow, it's a matter of personal preference.

Any soapmaking oil (or butter) will add different properties to the soap. Some people prefer tallow, some use the veggie version of soybean. I normally use soybean, because my clients prefer it over tallow. But tallow makes a nice soap as well. 7% superfat is a good rule of thumb.
