Hi, all,

Here's something that just occurred to me last night: Should I list isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol on my label's list of ingredients, or do the few spritzes of alcohol evaporate away so quickly that it's a non-issue? What if I use alcohol to dilute micas or pigments before adding to the base -- is it more of an issue then?

While we're on topic, what % of isopropyl alcohol is best for M&P? I've seen 50%, 70%, 90%. Is one better than the other?

I think it evaporates so much that there's no need to list it. And I would think the highest % is probably the best.

Awesome, I don't have to re-do my labels! Just got to wondering about it.

Also good to know to look for higher % for rubbing alcohol.

Thanks for the great question and something I've wondered too. For the longest time I tried to avoid using it or if I did I used it sparingly because I knew my customers wouldn't buy soap with alcohol in it. Glad to hear it's a non issue because it's a necessity with M&P soap.
