Okay so i would like to know how you all get that beautiful shape to the TOP of your soap. it looks like it has been carved out! Kinda woodsy, like its been pressed into a log. thanks for helping out a newbee !!!

Can you give us a link to an example? There are about a billion skillion ways to texture soap, so I'm gonna need some details. :)

I looked at your website and several of your soaps have the top that i "love" the most. it looks like alien terrain... peaks and valleys... :-) I hope that was specific enough. thanks again for taking the time to answer my questions!

That still doesn't narrow it down by much. Let's see..........spoon, fork, knife, chopsticks, narrow spatula, etc....

Sorry all, i am having a hard time being specific, i lack the language to properly describe what it is that i am looking for. Thanks for your patience. I was on Magic Hands website, that is where i saw the top that i would like to try myself, your Cedar Saffron soap has an interesting top and your Ambre de Nepal has an interesting top as well. If you are willing, i would love to hear how that is accomplished. 8) thanks everyone....

Ah, those are a little tricky - I texture the soap first, usually with a butter knife, and then deliberately overheat the soap just slightly when I make it. Some colorants tend to hold heat more than others, so some will overheat even if others don't, so only some parts "crinkle" - and then I brush them with mica to enhance the effect.

Soapbuddy listed a lot of my favorite tools for texturing, too. I use different things with different batches. Whether I'm at thick or thin trace makes a difference, too.

I encourage you to play around with your soap and see what kind of looks you get - it seems like everybody has their own personal flair and look. :)

OK, I had to check out the soaps in question and saw something I else that intrigued me...
Magic Hands, the Honey and Propolis soap. Do you actually add propolis to your soap (I didn't see it in the ingredient list) or is that a fragrance? Stunning soap!
Petra

Thanks for the compliments!

Petra, that's just the fragrance name. I love propolis, but I've never put it in soap - mostly in food, and in a couple of facial masks I made just for me. :)
