Teach Soap

I wrote recently about the track marks in soaps I was finding in my CPOP soap and said I would post a photo to see if anyone could identify why this was happening. . .

I didn't get a good photo but I found an example on etsy from a great soapmaker whose soap is doing the same thing on one of her/his soaps -- http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?li ... d=31162179.

Can someone identify why this is happening in some of my CPOP soap?

It could be your cutter, or the stearic acid in one of your soapmaking oils. What is the temp of your oils and lye when you combine them together?

Sorry for the delay. . .for some reason, I can't log onto this at work like I used to . . .

A couple of points. I only use about 3 oz shea, 8 coconut and 8 palm in my recipe for hard oils for a 45 oil batch so I am not sure which oils have the most stearic, but those are my hard oils. Also, I mix at about 108 to 110 here in lovely 100 degree LA. Third, no TD in any of my batches. Fourth, these only do this in my CPOP soaps. But I think you hit it, Soapbuddy, that it is stearic acid. So what do I do?
