 Post subject: soap breaking

Hello all,
I'm new in the soap making "industry" my first batch was a disaster since I didn't heat the oils correctly, the second batch was more successful, but when I tried to slice it, it broke leaving me with ugly looking soaps, does anybody have any idea what happened? my recipe was:
5.2 oz lard
6.3 oz olive
6.3 oz coconut
1 oz castor
2.1 oz canola
3 oz lye
7.2 oz coconut milk (fresh)
.9 oz EO
I would really appreciate any advice.

Looking at your recipe, your recipe seems like it would be really really hard and would need to be cut within 1 day of making it.

If it were my recipe, I would decrease the Lard & increase the Canola. You could also go up to a 5% superfat to make a softer bar of soap. That would be about 2.93 oz. of lye rather than the 3 ounces.
