I actually have 2 questions:

1. Does anyone know where I can find or what I might need to blend to get a duplicate of BBW's Japanese Cherry Blossom? I know BB doesn't really have anything in the way of cherry blossom (not that I found). help? Worst case scenario, maybe I can beg Anne-Marie for some :D

2. I just got my order today from BB and one of the things I got was a small bottle of gardenia. It smells spot on but it's almost too much. Just being in the room with the bottle is giving me a headache. Does anyone have a good recipe for a blend with this stuff? it seems to overpower just about everything I have.

Thanks in advance.

If yours is a little overwhelming, could you just use less? Is this for MP, CP or bath and body product?

it's not so much the problem in the soap. So far I've only used it in 1 batch of MP. Haven't gotten to the CP yet because of the icky feeling issue. After it's in the soap, i don't have any problems with it. It's nice and mellow with the small quantity I used.

It's the problem of being able to be in the room with it while I'm making the soap. About 10 seconds after opening the bottle my head starts hurting and my stomach turns. But I like the smell! I wanted to turn my straight gardenia into a blend just to see if it made it more tolerable in the bottle. I think I found my solution too after a couple calls. Orange EO, Vanilla Select and a little Myrrh. i have yet to make soap with the blend but it's great in the bottle and I get less of that icky feeling.

I'm almost wondering if I'm allergic to the gardenia...? Nothing else that i have, FO or EO does this to me so I'm a tad bit confused. My nose loves the scent but the rest of the body doesn't. It sucks!

Hi Sin,

Here's a website you might want to check: www.thesage.com. They carry a Cherry blossom FO that you have mentioned. I have not ordered this so I can't vouch for how close it comes to what you are looking for, but you might want to check it out.

Southern Garden Scents has the BBW Cherry Blossom type FO. I haven't bought this FO but I have bought and soaped some others from them that Brambleberry doesn't carry and I really liked them. It's >200 flashpoint so it can be shipped USPS instead of ground.

There's always that possibility that you could have an allergy to it. The blend you made sounds wonderful.

Thanks to both of your for the Cherry Blossom tip. I will have to try it. Will let you know how it turns out.

As for the blend, it's fantastic. I opened the bottle today and no sickness. yay! it's 1 part each gardenia, vanilla and myrrh and 2 parts orange. Yum.

I have the same sort of reaction to honeysuckle. just kills me to be anywhere near it. you might just have to give up gardenia!

I use gardenia with grapefruit for lotion at about .5 part gardenia to 2 parts grapefruit. . try and fool with it from there. . . but I would do it with drops first and see if you like the smell. It gets rid of a lot of the headiness.

I haven't tried the honeysuckle yet but since I have a couple people requesting it, I just might have to put it on my list. Hopefully I don't have the same problem. The gardenia/grapefruit sounds yummy. Too bad I have no grapefruit :( I just ordered some Yuzu from BB so perhaps I will try that once it comes in.

Just wanted to jump in to say that Cherry Blossom and Japanese Cherry Blossom have different scents. They are somewhat similar, but they are definitely different scents. I used to work for BBW and I've smelt those 2 scents more times than I can remember.

Japanese Cherry Blossom is BBW's #1 selling scent, but I like Cherry Blossom better. I don't think it's as strong as JCB.

*Taken from BBW website*
Key fragrance notes: Asian Pear, Kyoto Rose, Mimosa Petals, Himalayan Cedarwood (Japanese Cherry Blossom)

Key fragrance notes: Cherry Blossom, Dewy Watermelon, Red Plum (Cherry Blossom)

Key fragrance notes: Jasmine, Violet, Fresh Honeydew, Cassis (Blushing Cherry Blossom)

The two scents really do smell quite different, which is why I specified the japanese version. One of the sites given above does have something that is just "cherry blossom" but their description claims to be the JCB scent. it's on my list of things to try. Everyone at work knows I love this scent so I have bunches of it, along with the other cherry blossom variations.

Is the real deal powdery at all? I got some Cherry Blossom FO from a supplier, and it has a distinct baby powder note amongst the rest. Blech.

I don't know if they blew it, or if I just hate Cherry Blossom, lol.
