Here is one way you can find out which one you have. Put a little bit of the TD on your finger. Turn on the water faucet and put your finger under it. If it washes off it's water soluble. If it stays or beads up, it's oil soluble.

Adding TD at light trace could be harder to icorporate. You could also end up with speckles. If you use too much TD, your soap could become chalky or crumbly.

seems to be water soluble. how and when is the best to add it? Is there a "rule" on how much to use?

On the TD topic, I tried something new that I think might help the TD challenged like me. I was coloring a portion so I put the TD in a stainless mixing bowl, added glycerin and maybe a tbl of base oils, whisked it with a mini whisk and put that on a burner for few minutes. And it smoothed out with that heat alone, even before I put in the raw soap. Made incorporating it a lot easier because of the heat and because the chunkies were smooth. Granted, the stainless bowl got a tiny bit hot in the few seconds so use a mitt, but I finally got the TD to work!!! Yeah! Still not a fan of TD but I have finally mastered the BEAST!

I have a frother now and I'm dangerous. Muahahahaha. :lol:

Question though, the best and easiest TD I've found comes predispersed in castor oil. Dispenses in drops. No problems with incorporation or chalkiness. The stuff works great and it doesn't have that "Aha, titanium dioxide!" look when the soap is cured. There has to be a way to mix it on my own. How much oil dispersable TD should I use and how much castor oil to mix my own and bottle it?
