I hope someone will be able to help me. I recently purchased a new 5lb wood mold. It's hinged on the sides and then has velcro. The velcro will not stay done at all!! And I don't mean the actual velcro part. It's where the velcro is glued to the wood mold. The glue keeps coming undone, and it's brand new! When I tried to use it this weekend, soap went everywhere because it wasn't closed tight enough. Then it came completely undone! Any idea on how I can salvage this mold and still use it?? Maybe there are clamps I could use to keep it shut??

There are clamps that may work... however if it is a new mold it should not be coming apart! I would talk to the manufacturer.

Did you get this from BB? The description kind of sounds like it could be... if so, just let me know. We can PM and get it resolved. You should not be having troubles with a brand new mold! :D

I would try using bungee cords.

Go to Lowes or Home Depot. Purchase "C" clamps in the tool section. Two big ones will run you about $8 to $10. A little awkward but it'll work. My first priority would be to contact the seller or manufacturer though. I'm a backyard carpenter and don't think I would use velcro to hold together a soapmold. Screws with wingnuts work better. "C" clamps will work though....if you wanna try 'em.

I PMd you Bramble Momma.

Thanks for the tips on bungie cords and the clamps. I think I will definitely look into those clamps if nothing works out with the seller. I was thinking the velcro would be a lot more stable than it is!

I have not been on the boards in a long. long time. :)

I made my own wooden soap molds and I didnt want a huge hinge on the side of my molds so this is what I did. Went to Lowes or Home Depot and got the mirror hangers, screwed them into the end and the C shape cupped over the side and holds the hinged side up. Here is a photo on my blog so it might make more sense.
