Teach Soap

I let my soap set for 48hr. And still very soft
44oz. Lard
7.5oz. Almond oil
21oz. Coconut oil
2oz. Avocado. Oil
4oz. Olive


11.15oz. Lye pellets
3.31 cups of distilled water

Added 1cup of oatmeal at trace.
Used a stick blender. For 15min.
It. Then started to expand in the mold sou hand stirred for 15min

You have a lot of lard and avocado which can make your soap soft. How hot were your oils and lye before you combined them? I would recalculate your recipe and make a smaller batch. That's a lot of ingredients if you don't know how the soap will come out.

that seems like alot of oatmeal to me.Im sure thats why it expanded in the mold. It rehydrated. I grind my oatmeal up some before putting in soap so it dosen't clog drains.

i see?? does anyone have a recipe i can try. something thats full proof!!! this is my third batch and im gettimg better just havn't found the right mix. Now MP i got it down to a science!!

I say too much oatmeal too, in 4 lbs of soap I add less than a 1/4 cup and it's ground fine in a coffee grinder.

Try 50% lard
30% soft oil
10% coconut
10% castor

You could also try what some soapers consider the "holy trinity" soap

50% olive
30% palm
20% coconut

I would calculate this batch to make a pound.

Ditto on the oatmeal amount and prep---- grind it up a bit in the food processor or blender. I use an ounce per pound. Keep trying--- you learn so much more each try!
