Necia and Honey-
TYVM. Just so you know I'm really quite new at this. Admittingly I was (and still am) an addicted scrapbooker by hobby as well (althouh it seems like it's gotten sidelined a bit). So I have some (more than some) tools to 'assist' me with the packaging.

I really like the packaging (at craft fairs of which I've only done 2) but I find the display and the soaps 'ready do go' as gifts with those tags. But when selling on etsy and learning the packaging side of things it's a bit more challenging for mailing...

to answer your questions - and no question is too many - I've asked plenty myself on this forum to others - so it's great to give back...
1. I use a tag punch - http://www.marvy.com/product_details.aspx?ProductID=31 - mine is the shipping tag shape

2. I tried using already punched 'merchandising tags' to help me save time (so I thought) but the tags were a bit bigger and were not proportinately right with the soap so I went back to 'punching'. And the tags are 'handcrafted' so they go with the soap. I have some stamps (not like others I know, but enough with themes or funky motifs that I can play with to create designs on the tags)

3. My ingredient information/e-mail/company name/etsy site is all on the back . In fact I'll make a photo of the back so you can see it.

4. The bags are 'cello' bags but 'biodegradable' so you can compost them. There are cello bags that are not. check out nashvillewraps.com - Since my family and I are really into recycling and composting and (living in Berkeley) (and as Honey knows I biked to TKB Trading to get my new re-order of colorants so I try to get around with 2 wheels and my feet when I can) - it only seemed right for me to use/choose that kind of packaging. They also sell it in rolls which I just bought one so I can see how to go about rethinking the packaging a bit by wrapping the soap like a present with wrapping paper. But if I do that then it changes how I handle/use those tags (if at all) I plan to wrap my samples that I put in my etsy sales with the bio sheet and close it up with a round sticker that I write the fragrance of the sample so maybe I'll entice a follow on buy with something they did not order . I was using saran wrap/cling wrap but again it was kind of negating the eco-friendly packaging.

5. I've not experience any dew. My inventory that I'm currently making and some I still have from the last fair sits inside these clear boxes ~ 70 or so in each box so I can carry them easily.

I hope this has helped and please don't hesitate to ask anything else. Thanks for building up my confidence. It's a journey we're all on together.

Hilary

Figured I'd be brave and post some pics. Sorry for the crappy photo quality but I'm stuck using my phone until I can get a camera.

This first one was an accident. I wasn't intending for it to look like this but I'm happy with it. Sometimes accidents are nice.

I made a clear green mint soap that I hated. I think it was just the substandard base. I chopped it up and made these with BB's GM MP. I LOVE that stuff!!!

Hilary - thanks so much for that info and you have totally convinced me to try the biodegradable cello. We too recycle as much as possible (though I don't get on my bike ever - not that I have one!) and, for that reason, I like it BUT I also like it cos it's a great marketing tool too.

Loving the labels - just printed out a final one of mine (only B&W for now) and I've finally come up with the right size and shape and design that I'm happy with. It's taken quite some time to get there

Hilary - I must say that your products and packaging look so professional already that in NO way would you know you'd only just started out on this journey!!

BTW I wanted to ask everyone, what sort of level of stock do you hold - especially when you're selling for the very very first time? I don't intend to do markets as yet and I can make as I go but I was wondering what level of stock for each soap I should have in storage first.

Love those green minty soaps!!! Really nice!!

Now that the swan has been pointed out I see it too.

Unique, one of kind - never to be reproduced 'exactly' :D

That's the beauty of this art.
