Hi, I am a totally newbie. I feel like a sponge trying to take in all the information. I just saw an episode where Ann Marie did a double pour method - totally cool! She used a laser thermometer and I was wondering which one people recommend? I looked on Amazon and saw a number of different ones and one person said she used it for making candy but found the temperature was off by about 10 degrees. So, I'm wondering if there is anything I need to know when using these. Also, while we are on the topic - I am curious as to how you clean your bowls? Doesn't it get pretty messy when you have a few colors going at once? Isn't the wax difficult to clean? You can tell I am a total newbie. I am just now "collecting" my supplies and getting ready to place my first order with Brambleberry. My goal is to make a lot of nice soaps, bath salts, fizzies, and lotions for Christmas.

Any help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Sue

I got my thermometer at Harbour Freight. I don't see a brand name. I use it for my lotions.
You should be able to just rinse off your bowls with water. Try BrambleBerry MP soap kit and experiment. :)

I ended up getting a probe type of thermometer - the laser one were too expensive... it really great and I use it for cream making also. Once you learn more about how M&P works, you'll be able to see when it's at the right temp - it thickens up more and has more of a jelly look about it.

For cleaning up after, well I just soak my jugs and things in water for about 10 minutes as I'm clearing everything else away and then wash them out - beauty is, no need for any other washing product! Not sure what you mean about wax though, it's all just soap.

I just noticed that you mentioned wax in your first post. Normally, wax is not used in MP soap as it would reduce the soap's lather.
