Yes, soaps are due to me by September 26, you should have all gotten my mailing address in a PM sent out within the last couple of weeks. That means, if you plan to send priority, you probably need to get them mailed by Wednesday September 23.

My intent is to get them all mailed out by October 1.

Thanks,
Karen

Unfortunately knicelyr, the swap filled up last week, you must have missed a page of posts or something.

OK... my swap soap just went in the mold... cross your fingers!
Seemed to go as planned except I think I used a little too much honey and it heated up and traced a little faster than I wanted it to.
Smells great (but that will be my little surprise). I just hope the swirl comes out ok... it was a little thicker than I like to get a good swirl.

Your soaps should be curing!

Dad made me a wonderful new soap cutter and it arrived in the mail on Monday. Unfortunately, I cut my soaps on Saturday so they aren't perfectly even, but they sure smell yummy.

Just wanted to send a friendly reminder that the soaps need to be sent to me in about 5 weeks. If you haven't made them yet, you probably need to get that done sometime this week so they will have time to cure.

nag, nag,nag...thats what my employees say about me too

PM me if you have any questions.

Thanks,
Karen

Thanks for the reminder!
I'm cutting another batch today and depending on how it looks I may sub these for the swap.
It sure smells good :)

Mine are curing and I tried a scrap and they are very nice however ugly they may be! I was going for pink and purple and got pink and greenish grey. I'm having a real problem with purples and blues???? I'm using labcolors. Any suggestions??? Can you add them to the water before mixing it with lye? Just a thought. Mine always come out with speckles no matter how much I blend.

Hi Renaanne,

I have bought the lab colors specifically for high olive oil concentration from BB, I tried using them undilited but that didin't work out. I diluted them and now add them at trace. I haven't tried the blue that I ordered, but have used the lemon sherbert & the pinkberry sherbert. The lemon sherbert is a bit bright (that's really an understatement), but I used 1 teas of pinkberry in 42oz of oil and it was a nice light pink, I probably should have added more because I was going putting it in a batch with pink grapefruit FO so I wanted it brighter.

I will try the blue today or tomorrow and let you know how it turned out. By the way, I have gotten some spotting with the lab colors also, I don't know how to get rid of that. I have used them both ways, at trace & in the lye water. The only other suggestion or method I might try is mixing it with some glycerin or taking some of my oils - mixing that together really well, then adding it a trace.

sorry for the double post.

I use labcolors a lot, so here are a couple of tips - add them at light trace. Put your drops of labcolors into 1/2 oz to an ounce of water reserved from your original water amount, and that will help with the spotting, a lot.

Gel makes the colors more intense. If you're not gelling your soap, it might take some time for the color to develop. And purple just tends to be gray if you don't add enough - I get the best results by using purple ultramarine and purple labcolors in conjunction. Hope that helps a bit!
