OK I hope my question makes sense, I hate measuring preservative ,yes I use a digital scale but I still am terrified of screwing it up and not protecting my product. Is there a rule of thumb when it comes to preservative that is like so many DROPS per oz of LOTION/TONER?

Different preservatives are used in different strengths. Which preservative are you using? Does your scale measure very small amounts?

I have been useing Liquipar optima for my skin toners and whipped butters ( because I use Aloe Vera juice in my whipped butters) but I recently purchased CosmocilCQ because of the paraben free appeal. My scale measures all the minute amounts I just don't like doing it and would just love to be able to put in like so many drops per 1oz of toner. Just being lazy i guess.

The problem with drops is that there are different sizes of pipettes, which will give you different size drops. If this is for something that you are planning on selling, the safest way is to use the scale.

Get a jewellers scale online (I got mine on ebay) and weigh out your preservative - the one I use is recommended at 1% so I weigh out 1% of my final weight (ie 100g) and get my 1%. You shouldn't just judge by eye, it's not accurate enough. The jewellers scales will be so helpful to you, you won't know what you did without them!

yeah - weighing can be a pain in the tush... but it really is the only safe and reliable way to do it.
